Cincinnati is more than 320 years old with a history dating back to the 1780's when it was discovered by a surveyor in 1788. The primary settlements, presence of earlier settlements, mostly located around the river banks are extensively exhibited in most of the tourist attractions around the city.

The city had its names from a number of sources since it had been a region of sporadic village settlements. The term Cincinnati appeared in an 1853 journal denoting "the city of seven hills".
