If you are right in Cincinnati, there is one destination you won't want to miss. That is Cincinnati Zoo. Set in an urban setting, the Cincinnati Zoo really has plenty to explore if you want to spend a day, although it is a small zoo.
As one of the top zoos in the United States, Cincinnati Zoo features over 500 animals, 3000 varieties of plants, various natural wonders and plenty of entertainment opportunities, plus kid-friendly amusement rides and the fun-filled 4D Special FX Theater. Most patrons take it as a marvel to behold.
If you are planning on a visit to the zoo on a shinny, warm day, you should remember the zoo's most crowded time is between 10am and 2pm. Where is the Cincinnati Zoo located? The zoo is located at 3400 Vine Street, the city's urban Avondale neighborhood. The entrance on Vine Street provides the most convenient and easiest access into the zoo.
Equipped with two large elevators, the Vine Street entrance also offers convenience for people who need to use a stroller or wheelchair. The elevators have been programmed to operate in a way to avoid unnecessary delays for patrons.
Please note that the Dury Avenue entrance is open only during peak times or weekends with good weather. All other times, visitors need to use the Vine Street entrance. How to drive to the zoo? Driving by yourself would be the most convenient mean of the transportation, which will give you the most freedom on your timetable. If you decide on driving to the Cincinnati Zoo, knowing its driving directions is very important. The easiest accesses are from I-71, I-74 and I-75.
For visitors traveling from Kentucky or downtown Cincinnati, you can take I-71 Northbound. Take the Dana Avenue exit. At exit ramp light, you should drive towards left onto the Duck Creek. Turn left onto Dana Avenue when driving to the second light of Dana Avenue. Then turn left onto Victory Parkway. At the second street, head right onto the Rockdale Avenue. Drive along the Rockdale until you pick up the Forest Avenue. Head left onto the Dury Avenue and go through the OLD Zoo entrance. Turn right onto the Erkenbrecher. Drive on and turn right on Vine Street. You will find the zoo entrance soon.
If you are traveling from Kentucky and downtown Cincinnati, you also can take I-75 Northbound. Exit at Mitchell Avenue exit #6 and turn right onto Mitchell Avenue. Drive towards south onto the Vine Street. Continue south on Vine Street for about 2 miles and you will find the zoo entrance on your right hand side.
If you come from Columbus or Mason, take I-71 Southbound. Take the Dana Avenue exit and turn right onto the Dana Avenue. At the second light, turn left onto Victory Parkway. Drive to the second street along the Victory Parkway and turn right onto Rockdale Avenue. Follow the Rockdale to Forest Avenue and drive towards south to Vine Street. You will find the zoo entrance at an immediate left.
For those who come from Dayton, Fairfield and Norwood, take I-75 Southbound. Take Mitchell Avenue exit #6 and turn left onto the Mitchell Avenue. Then turn left onto Vine Street and follow the Vine Street south for about 2 miles. The zoo entrance will appear in your line of sight.
